ICE Labcomm is an NHS accredited PMIP messaging system which processes data from the PAS, LIMS and RIS systems then filters GP data for transmission to GP systems. ICE Labcomm can also be configured to process clinical letters (discharge notes etc) and PAS data such as HL7 ADT’s There are facilities within the system to also direct copies of the data to other destinations in other data formats. For example, ICE Labcomm is also used to send secondary care reports to GPs, where GPs have elected to download them via the ICE Interoperability.

All data is processed and imported into the ICE SQL database. The output to the GPs is in NHS PMIP EDIFACT format, but the output to other systems can be in any of the formats listed below.
