Patient Management
Many Trusts suffer from disparate systems referencing a patient using different identity numbers. This, together with demographic data inconsistencies within different legacy and departmental systems, can lead to clinical incidents.

ICE Desktop gathers patient information from many different sources such as PAS (Patient Administration System), LIMS, RIS, departmental systems and various GP practice systems. Using configurable patient matching routines, data from all these sources are used to update the ICE Database ensuring duplications are kept to a minimum. For those occasions where patient details are duplicated, ICE Merge will identify those instances and offer a merge facility for the demographics and all the history held on the database for those patients. Incorrect merging can be reversed.

ICE Desktop is capable of managing casenote numbers and internal patient identifiers not visible to users.

Multi-Trust
ICE Desktop can run in a multi Trust environment, accepting data from multiple PAS and LIMS providers.

Multi-Language
ICE Desktop is a multi language product. A by-product of this is the ability for a Trust to customise the on screen terminology to match any local requirements. The language facility is available by user so different users can work with different languages or terms.

Patient Searches
Patients can be found using various methods. Searches can be made on hospital or casenote number, surname, surname/forename combination, date of birth or NHS number. Patient lists are available by location, clinician or clinician group.

Clinicians/Locations
ICE Desktop also handles the different clinician and location local codes sent from the various hospital systems and ensures that orders and reports are sent to the right place.

Security and Permissions
Access levels are used to allow access to certain applications or part of applications. Permissions are used to control access within an application. For example, you may wish to prevent a user from making requests for certain tests or to view reports for specific disciplines or departments.

Full password protection is built in for each user. Users are assigned to a User Role. Each User Role can be given access levels and set of permissions. Each User can also have a set of access levels and permissions to override those at the User Role level.

Network Printing
ICE Desktop supports network printing. This allows you to direct prints to selected printers and paper trays. This is useful where special paper is being used or special printers for labels, wristbands etc.
