May 22, 2007 - Misys Healthcare Systems, a health care IT firm, says that its Misys Laboratory information system will be implemented within the Providence Health Care organization of Vancouver, Canada, under a deal worth $2 million. The implementation of Misys Laboratory at St. Paul's Hospital and Mount Saint Joseph Hospital will allow physicians to have quick access to patient laboratory data, the firm says.
Misys adds that St. Paul's and Mount Saint Joseph join other Vancouver-area health care facilities in optimizing laboratory efficiency through Misys' SMART module, which encompasses specimen management, routing and tracking. The firm says that the labs will implement a microbiology module to enhance microbiology, virology and epidemiological results communication, and a Blood Bank module that supports electronic cross-matching and donor unit tracking. CoPathPlus will be used to integrate anatomic pathology with the Misys Laboratory tool, the firm says. The Misys and CoPathPlus systems will be interfaced with Providence's electronic patient-care system, providing communication of lab orders and results reporting between patient-care areas and the laboratory, according to the firm
